Hello...

Welcome to the Kirklees Wargames Club blog and forum. We are a small group of table-top wargamers who get together weekly to play games which vary from Ancient/Medieval, through English Civil War, American War of Independence, American Civil War, and all things Napoleonic, plus WW2 to Sci-fi and fantasy, using scale-model armies on purpose-built terrain and scenery. We meet at Beaumont Park Visitors Centre, Beaumont Park Road, Huddersfield HD4 7AY on Monday evenings from 6.15pm. New members (over 18) are always welcome. You can just drop in or contact us on: kirkleeswargamesclub@gmail.com. Facebook: Kirklees Wargames Club and Twitter: @KirkleesWC

Vikings going to war!

Welcome along to what we hope is going to be a regular post on our new blog. The Kirklees Wargames Club's first baby steps into the 21st century come in the form of a new shiny blog. This is something that is taking a bit of getting used to and is very much a case of learning on the job, so please bear with us as we find our feet and try avoid breaking the internets!!

So on Monday evening we played a game of Dux Bellorum, a rule set we've had for some years yet have only just begun to play them ( this maybe a theme). For the last four weeks we've been  playing DB and we have really enjoyed the results, especially for club nights where time can be an issue. They are simple enough not to be checking the book every few minutes to find obscure details, they give a fun game and they seem to give a nice "Dark Age" feel to proceedings.

Unfortunately the first problem I found with blogging and AAR is that you need to make sure you note down details, stats, turns, winners and losers and not as I did, which was none of the above. What I did manage to do was to take some pictures. Most of the figures are Martins, Steve brought a few and I added what I had. We decided to base everything 60mm x 40mm, I think we are moving towards the smaller scale, bigger base type of basing for more of our games on the whole. Steve ran out winning, Adrian was carried off on his shield to Valhalla and Ian left when he realised the piggy bank was empty (bloody mercenaries eh!).

So to the pictures.....

I promise more factual detail next time. Thanks for looking.

Nice looking figures and game - I like the use of 'dice holders'. I may formulate a pictish army one day!
