So after last weeks club meeting and discussions about the corona-virus, we have decided to temporarily suspend our Monday night club meetings. That means no more pushing figures around tables, measuring what we think an 1/8th of an inch looks like, disputing what a 60 degree angle actually is and whether or not a tree line equals an orchid or a wood? This now means we all have a 5 hour shaped hole in our Monday night and Netflix can only cover so much of that (honestly we could quite easily fill it with TV alone I think, but....). Luckily our hobby allows us to have two hobbies in one, first we have the social wargaming side at the club and secondly we have the painting and crafting side of the hobby. Due to this we will be turning the blog over to a painting blog to show what we've been up to and what we're planning for when we can get back to throwing dice, telling shit jokes and arguing.
So I'll get the ball rolling with some work for my British Peninsular wars force for playing "Sharp Practice". I don't think you can go wrong with Perry Miniatures, especially their plastic box sets. 50 pence a figure is unbelievably good value and then you factor in how nice they look, I can only see me using them for 90% of the force I think.
So this fine fellow is a sergeant from the 31st Huntingdonshire Regiment of Foot (Also known as the "Young Buffs") and in game term he equates to a Level 1 Big Man. I think he has a look of the Richard Sharpe about him and so I will inevitably place him in precarious situation with little chance of success and see him killed over and over and over again. It turns out soldiers in my armies don't see much battle field success, but make quite nice looking casualties.
Thanks for looking,
AlexK
