This is the Revell kit known as 'Monty's Caravan' and apart from a few Airfix kits I built as a young lad this must rank as one of the worst quality kits I've built. Just no comparison with Hasegawa, Esci/Italeri etc.
However, it was interesting, and you get a tiny Dingo scout car kit in the box as well, which I'm on with now and is equally poor quality.
Apparently the caravan is the big box bit with windows sat on the back, and was originally captured from an Italian General in North Africa, after which the caravan was transferred onto the Leyland Retriever chassis for Monty. He used it throughout the NW European campaign too, which is why I've done it.
Again not sure if it'll ever see a wargames table.
Hello...
Welcome to the Kirklees Wargames Club blog and forum. We are a small group of table-top wargamers who get together weekly to play games which vary from Ancient/Medieval, through English Civil War, American War of Independence, American Civil War, and all things Napoleonic, plus WW2 to Sci-fi and fantasy, using scale-model armies on purpose-built terrain and scenery. We meet at Beaumont Park Visitors Centre, Beaumont Park Road, Huddersfield HD4 7AY on Monday evenings from 6.15pm. New members (over 18) are always welcome. You can just drop in or contact us on: kirkleeswargamesclub@gmail.com.
