Welcome to the Kirklees Wargames Club blog and forum. We are a small group of table-top wargamers who get together weekly to play games which vary from Ancient/Medieval, through English Civil War, American War of Independence, American Civil War, and all things Napoleonic, plus WW2 to Sci-fi and fantasy, using scale-model armies on purpose-built terrain and scenery. We meet at Beaumont Park Visitors Centre, Beaumont Park Road, Huddersfield HD4 7AY on Monday evenings from 6.15pm. New members (over 18) are always welcome. DBMM Sparta vs Thebes 375bc

And so twas time for Sparta to invade Thebes on some trumped-up pretext.

The game started out very cagey, with the Spartans sending some galleys along the coast. The Thebans managed to avoid any ranged-fire from the galleys, but they were allowed to beach unopposed and landed their marines.

The Spartans and Thebans slowly approached each other, and then the two sides met, and the Spartans slowly gained the ascendancy through their Reg Sp S hoplites. The Theban strategy of outflanking the Spartans didn't work, and in fact the Spartans were just getting into the Theban rear area when we ran out of time.

Thebes lost roughly 10 ME but Sparta only 0.5 ME, so although no single command reached disheartened, the game was declared a win to the Spartans. Well done Steve A.
